Edible Book Festival

Have you ever heard someone say that a book was so good that they devoured it in a day? I have. And they meant it literally. I hang out with members of the Milwaukee Book Arts Salon, and they've hooked me up with a community of creative folks who are always pushing the envelope. Right around April Fool's Day, they take part in an annual Edible Book Festival. Yup. Artists in the USA, Europe, and Australia have a tradition of challenging each other to create books and book objects made entirely out of edible materials. At these festivals, the objective is to consume all the books by the end of the day. And to prove that I am not making this up, check out the Books 2 Eat website. Any cool artist challenges on your plate lately?  Jill

About Jill Erickson

I joined the Art Jewelry staff in March, 2006 as an Associate Editor. The time really does fly around here. It doesn't get much better than working with artists, authors, fun co-workers and looking at jewelry all day. Another bonus to magazine work is the opportunity to attend jewelry shows and conferences -- I truly look forward to these "field trips" and the chance to meet and talk with our readers and contributors.
