Chrome makes everything cooler, even (especially??) flex shafts.

So I know I just posted a blog entry, but I couldn't resist sharing this with you.

Otto Frei's chrome flex shaft

Look what we just got in the mail!!

Yes, Virginia, there is a chrome-covered flex shaft.

And isn't it just the coolest thing you've ever seen?

To fill you in, the flex shaft here in our Art Jewelry studio died last week, while we were taping some how-to video segments.

Since the flex shaft is such an integral part of the the bench jeweler's arsenal, I was distraught.

But once I pulled this bad boy out of the box this morning, my sadness turned to elation. I love new tools and all, but this one may be the coolest ever in my book.

And sure, I could've gotten the standard gray metal flex shaft from Otto Frei. But at only around 10 dollars more, why wouldn't I choose the flashy chrome version?

Plus Ottoflex's are the only flex shafts that are fully made in the USA, which is cool. Then again, who but us Americans would need to cover a flex shaft in chrome?

Enjoy your weekend,

~Addie~

P.S. I think this mean machine needs a nickname.
Any ideas?

That's as bad a "58 Buick! Right out of the fifties when chrome was considered a strategic material. Well with this machine I guess it still is, but the question is how do you work with all of the glare off it? I bet the camera crew loves it.
