I have been working with the Viking Weave technique for five years and am currently putting together an extensive tutorial, which I hope to finish in the next week.  In the mean time, you could take a look at a page on my website with some step-by-step photos of a chain being made.  The March 2005 issue of Art Jewelry Mag has a tutorial, but I think there are some aspects of the way the technique was presented that make it harder for someone to learn successfully.  I learned from two books:  Nancie Wiseman's, Knitting with Wire, and Irene From Peterson's, Great Wire Jewelry.  I am still experimenting with new ways to apply the technique; it is a fascinating technique!

I learned from the book, Great Wire Jewelry, by Irene From Peterson.  Her illustrations are really good, and the directions are clear and easy to understand. 

The hardest thing I found about doing viking knit, was (for me) the boredom factor.  It takes hours to make enough knit to make a piece, and it is the same thing over and over.  Definitely worth it in the long run!  Next time I do a piece, I will use gold.  I figure that if I am going to put all that time into it, I want it to be solid gold!
