    Deb Karash

I read with interest the conversation with Deb Karash and was enthralled to see that she achieved such fab results with coloured pencils.  When i checked out Gesso, I was perplexed as there seemed to be so many different types.  can anyone help clarify which type to use or not to use?

    thanks

I'm not even sure what it is except the Bob Ross used a lot of it. Her work almost makes one want to start using some colored pencils.

Her work is amazing isn't it??

Prismacolor pencils are the way to go.

I'm not sure about the gesso, since I use a patina to help my pencils grip. There are samples and basic instructions for using colored pencils in the Copper Coloring Techniques article in the November issue. Check out the bottom image on page 33.

    Hope that helps!

Actually, come to think of it, I have used gesso a bit...

I've always liked Golden brand acrylic white gesso. It makes the colors pop more than the black bases.
