balling wire for a bead spinner ring

Hi, I'm new to this forum. I would like to make a ring that I saw a pict of.  It uses a bead which is threaded onto wire and suspened in a C-shaped band. Each end is balled after passing through holes drilled in the ring shank. It is just like the spinner ring project shown in the project section of this site, except that instead of using small tubing and tube rivets to suspend the bead, you somehow ball the wire at each end that runs through the hole in the band. I saw picture of it done with both stone and glass beads, and tried to ball the wire using KOOl JOOL, but it didn't work out well. Obviously, you would ball one end of the wire before assembly, but how can I ball the second end of the wire to trap the bead in the ring band without frying the bead? Anyone?

    very carefully. ;-)

Some stones can be heated incredibly hot, some don't do well with much heat at all.

But even for ones that can't you can protect the stone with commerical products, burying it in pumice, or other creative solutions.
