Tried full Persian, wound up with Box, what did I do wrong?

I''m a dabbler here, but some of my pendants I think work well with maille accents (bail, neck chain).  I was doing a trial run for a necklace and was trying to follow a tutorial for full Persain, but now that I look at it carefully, I clearly came up with 4-1 box, not 6-1 persian.  Which may serve my purposes, but I'm not quite sure what I needed to do differently to get that extra set of rings in.  Can anyone explain what I did wrong in a few small words?  I was doing a "flip the rings" approach.   In my mind it was "Fold the (vertical) rings back and push toward the font, open the (horizontal) rings and thread the new (horizontal)  unit so it catches the "back" of the (vertical) folded rings.

You don't flip rings for a Persian chain.

The instructions I was using had you flip them to start the chain.  Obviously I missed something in the next step, because it seemed natural to go on as I'd started.  Clearly this is wrong, but I haven't found an image yet that makes clear to me exactly where I went wrong/missed the boat.

Also check out the instructions on www-bijoux-de-terre.com.  Click on "For Our Students" and then on "Round Chain".

Ah, I think I see.  I didn't "bunch it up" enough.  BTW, I looked on CGMaille and I somehow didn't see this tutorial.  Weird.  This one is quite good!

John, your server isn't talking to me, alas!

Yes it works better with a "." instead of a "-".  I think my brain checked out yesterday, I looked at the address in the bottom of your note and concluded it was indeed right, which it was not....

I did get a sample made, but the rings I was using where too low a gauge, so it was basically a solid block with no flexibility!   I've been practicing with cheap Al rings in various sizes so I can really see what I'm doing.

Hi - did you ever figure out how to make the full persian chain?  I have directions that I came up with and teach often on how to do this a 'less painful' way which might help ..??  let me know and I'll forward the file to ya - for free - just helping those along who need it.  Nancy B

Yes, I did figure it out!  I also figured out that aspect ratio is very important to be able to fit all the rings!
