Can you use Air /Acetylene inside home

Hi I just set up a small bench / work area in my garage and purchased the smith silversmith torch w/ air acetylene (B) for my soldering. Here is my question, my set up is preventing one the cars to be placed in our garage now and I am wondering if it is ok to move and use the torch in the house in a room that is 10X11. I thank you inadvance for your assistance.

Can you or should you? I do but I live in a mild climate area and I have the window open part way. It isn't that it is bad it is that in some jurisdictions that this sort of thing is not allowed in a home. Acetylene is lighter than air so if you have a leak it will collect near the ceiling and it is explosive in nature, think big BOOM! I have had a torch in my home for nigh on forty years without incident so it is safe but you have to be safety minded. Having it in the garage is dangerous too if you store flammable liquids out there too. If you have fuel for the lawn mower, snow mobile or jet ski, just striking a spark for the torch could light up the whole garage. Some  homeowners insurance policies do not allow compressed gas cylinders in the home either, welding, soldering or other such activities. You'd be surprised to learn what is not allowed if you really read your policy. Like mine does not allow open flame or arc welding in the garage. So I guess what your asking is it safe to use in your home? Yes, if you follow all necessary safety procedures and follow all applicable codes. (How's that a weasel answer.)
