Where can I find intermediate/advanced classes in wire working?

    Hi all!

I am looking for some classes in wire working... I already know all of the basics (i think!) so Im looking for something more advanced. ive looked online but havent found anything that suits me.

anyone know of some good classes? or tutorials? I have a lot of eni's, which i love. The classes can be anywhere in the US, I am planning on taking a class taking trip sometime next year.

    thanks for your help!

Hey there- I am an instructor in CA, so could give you some pointers if you are going to come out this way! In the meantime, for great on line classes, check out Lisa Niven Kelly's site: www.beaducation.com I currently teach a mix of things including more organic wire techniques, so for ideas of if you are interested in my PDF's, let me know : www.InspiredByStones.com Also, check out my schedule on the palces I teach. We have some great instructors out here, and although it's not official, The Bead Shop in Palo Alto (www.beadshop.com) is looking to offer a 3-4 day span of all day classes for people like yourself who would be travelling in. If you are looking ot take your metal working further than wire wrapping, look up Iris' site: www.sandkuhler.com If you have any tips on places to I to teach near you, I am up to travel as well! Good luck. Karey

Check out Sheirlyn Miller's web site (www.sherilynmiller.com) and you can see the specific classes she offers and the teaching schedule for a specific class that might interest you.

Great to see this post - I am actually an instructor at The Bead Shop, and I will be one of the featured instructors during the workshop planned for late October (there will be a different teacher for each of the 4 days). My focus will be on heavy gauge wire, forging, and riveting, and we will complete several projects during my session. The workshop is being designed so that each day has a different instructor, each with different styles, techniques, and projects.

It will be a great workshop, and I am really looking forward to it. I love that each day, you will have several projects, and you will learn many different techniques and styles of work, from thin gauge (coiling and wrapping) to the heavier work that I am teaching, as well as basic fusing (and maybe soldering, I'm not sure).  I know most of the instructors teaching at Hooked on Wire also, and they are all wonderful... it just depends on the scope of projects and techniques you are interested in.

For reference, the URL for The Bead Shop is; http://www.beadshop.com/
The workshop is not posted online, but if you call the store, ask for Vicky (she manages the class schedule), or you can email the class coordinator. Or, email me, and I will be happy to help if I can (my email is in my profile).

I hope you come - I think it's gonna be great!

Thanks for your post. The workshop sounds great! I am not researching for those kind of workshops to go next year. Im still at school now but I finish on february. I hope I finish my thesis by sept so i can take my time and travel and do all the workshops i want to do.

I hope you have great success this year so that you'll do it again next year!

I am looking for classes also, either on the East Coast where I live, or in Texas.  Does anyone know of any?

I recommend Holland too.  Up in the north GA mountains just a few miles from SC.  You can get the class, room/board for the week for $310 plus cost of supplies.  Where are you going to find a better bargain than that?  Taught myself wirewrap, but went there for Cabochons, Opals, Silver and Casting.  Rooms nothing fancy, nor is the cafeteria style food, but what do you expect of $310?  Rooms are clean and you won't starve on the food.  You check in on Sunday afternoon and usually are free after lunch on Friday.  Many go there for a vacation, as well as to learn.  If you are interested, apply as soon as you can in the fall, for the next year, as classes fill up fast.
