This should be the correct email address.  I recently ordered from him.  By the way, I love my Koil Kutter & the price!

I too have recently contacted Dave and got a reply. I am ready to purchase the Koil Kutter but cannot decide on the English or Metric mandrels. Would you mind telling me what mandrels you ordered and why you chose that system. I e-mailed Dave to ask were there any differences as far as does one set have sizes the other doesn't. I know things are mostly done in metric these days. Math was never a good subject for me.

I use a combination of rods, knitting needles & dowels purchased from craft, hardware, etc. shops.  Both English & Metric. 

Ditto.  I have both English and Metric sets of mandrels, plus a variety of knitting needles & steel dowels, etc.  I tend to use metric more often than English (at the moment). 

 If you can't decide which to choose, pick a handful of weaves you would like to try and find the suggested sizes for those weaves.  If the majority of the weave sizes are in English, buy the English set...if the majority of your sizes are in metric...then buy the metric set.  Or, whichever system you are more comfortable using.  *grin*

If you're ordering the Koil Kutter, be sure and order the large size rather than the regular.  It wraps and cuts coil about 10" long.  For serious chain mail, it's a life saver.  I ordered metric and haven't regretted it a bit.  Go to www.longcanyon.com to resources and check out the Recommended Jump Rings for Weaves by Jacqueline Lincoln.  It's one of the best charts I've seen, complete with photos of the weave.  I've laminated my copy and couldn't function without it.  There is all sorts of information there that is wonderful!!
