Those are really great pieces! Do you make your own tools? Sell them?
Most of the tools are hand made. I love the freedom of being able to make whatever I need. I do not have time to make them for others since this work is done during my spare time. I am not able to do my artwork full time.
During the workshop I will be teaching the students how to make their own tools and how they are used. Most of the commercial chasing tools are not suited for this fine work and are expensive. A well made tool is a pleasure to use.
Fred, these are outstanding works of art. Very impressive! :::20 supplications::: Mea Culpa!
Fred,
Thank you so much for sharing these pictures. Their lifelike appearance is made even more amazing by the size of the piece. Such detail in such a small amount of space. You are inspiring.
The faces are wonderful. I'm amazed how detailed they are and I see the importance of custom making your own tools for such fine work. I think it's great to teach students how to make tools. I'm sure all of your students will leave the workshop with at least one great tool that they will continue to use.
This forum is such a great place for learning.
Thanks!

Really great pieces Fred .. I like them all but the second one with the flat edge, adds a really nice "frame"
When and where is your workshop going to be?
The workshop is in March and will be held here in Tucson, Arizona.
Fred, thank you for sharing your wonderful craft with us.....I love these faces!
These are so impressive, I had to stop in to look again and give them a 5 star rating. This really is excellent work Fred.
I know I am a litle late in responding but those faces are amazing. Lots of movement and life. Nice.

I will be teaching basic tool making and the use of the tools and pitch. Each student will complete at least one face. I will be encouraging folks to make at least two faces at the same time. If all works out everyone will walk away with two faces and an extra chasing tool or more.
Love the design of the last one in particular! Thanks for sharing these!
