    PMC over ceramics?

OK, I have art clay silver paste. I painted it in several layers over a ceramic cab. I thought I could fire it and it would be fine, but nope. Cracked and pulled away. I know I've sen silver over porcelain so I thought silver over ceramic would be the same... any ideas on how to get this to work??? OH, done a few pieces, and pretty happy, although I wrecked the silver on this cab, and have another project drying that I don't think I will like! We'll see. Cammy

Here's a link to a PORCELAIN cabochon project at Art Clay World -- uses overlay paste, not regular paste.

I've been successful with thin coats of regular paste and Tonya Davidson's ( Wholelootawhimsy.com )  bead blanks -- http://www.wholelottawhimsy.com/wo/p/context/shopping/Catalog?c=145 --

and here's a project sheet from her:
