i found some boric acid at the chemist because i couldnt wait until my power gets here but the one i got from the chemist was granules instead of powder which i didnt know until i got home and opened it (so i cant take it back) i need to know if i can still use it with denatured alcohol somehow i tried to mix the 2 and it wont mix the granules just settle on the bottom could i mix the rest of it with with water and warm it on the stove to desolve it them once it has could i just put the denatured alcohol in and mix it and use it like that or shall i just throw it away and wait for the power to get here

I've never worked with granules myself, only powder.

Could you try grinding them up with a mortar and pestle, or perhaps an old coffee grinder you don't need anymore?

Maybe then they would mix with your alcohol...??

i ground it down the best i could but it still wont disolve there is just a thick layer at the bottom i just put the whole 100g pot (from the chemist) in there with the 92% denatured alcohol(thats the best i could find)

im waiting for my boric acid and borax powder to get here then i will try with that this lot is 99.9% pure so maybe that might work better god only knows what that other stuff was

i read one post somewhere where somebody had the problem of it turning black when the burned it it said

put a small amount of denatured alcohol on some metal and light it and it should burn clean then the same with the boric acid and that should go clear and the same with the borax..... when i tried it the alcohol burned ok but the boric acid was a bit brown but only light brown guess there is something in there maybe thats the problem
