Nice cane but what I want to know is how the heck do you keep your nails so nice????

Thanks so much.  I really like the idea of adding the scrap clay plugs onto the ends of your cane before reducing to prevent waste of the ends of your canes.  Jeanie

Thanks! It is was a little extra effort for the tutorial, to be honest. The only trick I have is to wear gloves while working with clay (I do not wear them only when I take pictures – gloves look pretty ugly on pictures, I figured). Also, applying some hand lotion before putting the gloves on makes things even better.

I cannot take credit for this trick, as I have read it somewhere, but it is a wonderful trick indeed. Look at the last picture in the tutorial – that is how little waste I have with this method.

I like that trick, it's a good one! Sometimes I stick a chunk of scrap clay to a cane that has gotten too short to easily slice. It gives me something to hold onto and some support to the cane. Can pretty much slice right down to the end of the cane that way!
