    Dremel-less, for a while

Where's LCD? My Dremel is on its way to Wisconsin to the mother ship so it can be fixed.

I mostly use it for buffing. A fine buffer if ever there was. Except...lately it has been racing, like going from setting 2 to the highest speed possible, while still on setting 2. Crazy. Scared me at first, like it was possessed. Luckily the attachment was a muslin wheel, not a drill bit or some other item that could cause some damage. I was over at Polymer Clay Central (I like it) and had a Dremel discussion and found that others had experienced the same problem. So I called Dremel and they told me to ship it back to them, including battery and charger, with a note and they'd fix it.

My poor widdle Dwemel is far from home right now. And of course, I'm jonesing to buff.

Deepest sympathies............it's always a bummer when a favorite tool goes on the fritz.   I guess you could pull the sand paper out of your tumbler and use that........

Ooooh..so sorry...I have a dremel-like tool.  A couple of years ago, on New Year, Eve , My partner and I went to a auto parts store that was still open at 9pm.  I forget why we were there in the first place but they had the tool and all the attachments for $29.99 on sale!  Not a cheap, flimsy thing either..pretty heavy duty and I just cannot...will not live without it!  In fact we are going out soon to get more sanding, buffing attachments.  Hope yours comes back pronto Lin.

    I'm trying to stay philosophical.

It's not good for a rotary tool with a spinning shaft to decide to change speeds all on its own. When the UPS store suggested a larger box (I thought mine was perfect), upping the price of shipping to 1/3 the value of the Dremel plus its carrying case and attachments, I decided to chance it and save the extra cash. From what I read at PCC, it's probably a little speed regulator part that's easily replaced.

In other news, today's my last day at work. As of tomorrow, I'm retired, baby.

Wow! Congrats on your retirement. Pretty soon you'll be so busy you will wonder how you had time to work.

Got my Dremel back today with a new speed control plus a little flapwheel attachment. It was gone a total of two weeks, including the 4th of July and something about "adverse weather" in the UPS tracking log. Can't complain.

Did I tell you I got a drill press? Still have to bolt it down and make a little bead-holding tool at the bottom (a la Desiree).
