    Anyone know...

how these gorgeous paper bowls are made? She says she uses cotton, abaca and linen pulp..is it like a paper mache process?  I would love to know how to make these or something like it.  Wonderful artist...I got the link in my email from Polymer Clay Daily .

gorgeous indeed! she probably makes her cotton goop and puts it in a bowl mold. when dry embellish. I bet the concept is similar to paper mache.

Wow! I love those bowls and everything else she does. Even her website is cool, not overpowering, just enhancing her work.

And can you believe her prices? The bowls have quite a bit of embellishments, not to mention whatever the basic technique is. I LOVE the faux ivory pin...only $22!!! That's the kind of stuff I love. That price is a steal.

    Thanks for sharing Fenian!

Does anyone know what she means by using "aqueous dispersed pigments"?  I am assuming something water based?  Whatever she uses, the colors  are splendid!

Lin do you think she is under-priced?

I've never sold anything or even sat down to figure out a pricing scheme. But I do look at what people charge for things and consider whether I'd pay that amount or what I think my stuff is worth. I'm constantly seeing people say, oh, I think you're undercharging for that! I don't know if this person is undercharging, but I've seen a lot of stuff at the same asking price that couldn't hold a candle to her stuff. I think her prices seem extremely reasonable for what she's created.

I'm guessing that "aqueous dispersed" means something that is disolved in water or carried by water to impregnate the other materials.

I wonder what a google or wikkipedia search would come up with on that term.

Wow....I just did a search and found this vendor for pigments and pulp .   Although I am interested, it is very expensive especially if you want to buy abaca, flax or other papers in beaten pulp form.  You also need a retention agent for the paints.  They do have a "exciter" pack for $55.00.

I just found this co: Twinrocker  they have the pigments and ready-to-use pulp as well. It would be cheaper to use paper mache but with this stuff there is no yellowing and the paints do not fade.  So if you want to make quality stuff you have to pay the price I guess.
