    "Iced" Sea Glass...

'Trying something new and encasing sea glass with tiny shells, jewels, wire and beads. I love experimenting with different materials and this is a new adventure in my ever-evolving experience with creativity and sea glass. There are several of these available on my eBay site and I'm thinking I'd like to try more ...'just thought I'd post it and look forward to any comments. Thanks for taking the time to look!

Very pretty. I like the colored wire. When I use it tho, Some of the color comes off and spoils my piece. When I see something like this I would like to see the back and how you wired there.

Thanks for your comment, I appreciate that you took the time to write. The back of the piece looks similar to the front with the exception of the 'swirls.' I've drilled a hole in the top and secured the wire there. Then, with the excess, I just use round-nose pliers and twirl and crimp the wire until I feel it's complete. I try not to use too much wire, I'd prefer it just be seen as an accent. I'm wondering what kind of wire you use... do you know the gauge?

Hi Laura, thanks for your compliment. I looked at your site and thoroughly enjoyed reading your thoughts about creating. I feel you're a kindred spirit...those words were in my head, how did you get them out???!!! I create my pieces in the same way and feel exactly the same when they're completed... that is whenever my brain (which goes on auto-pilot) has decided that somehow they're finished. It was truly wonderful, refreshing and exciting to know there's someone else out there who engages in that same creative energy. And your work is quite lovely as well. Thank you again!

What a supremely nice post.  Thank you!  :-)

I've come to believe/understand that (for me, anyway), creativity seems to be an attempt at communication.  I am thrilled beyond belief when something I've made "speaks" to someone else.  Then it's like we're communicating.

It's okay that my stuff doesn't speak to the majority of people.  I take great joy from knowing that even just a few see certain things the way I do, even if just for moments of time.

I have no idea WHY this seems to be important to me; maybe it's some primal reaction, but whatever, no use in trying to beat it down.

I appreciate that a medium I can struggle with at times (writing) did work from me to you.  And yeah, I'm happy to know others out there feel as I do about the creative process.  Makes you feel a sisterhood thing going on, huh?

Keep up the good work!  Art is beauty.
