Became enamored with opals in 2000, when I discovered matrix opal on E-Bay for < insane prices. Told my wife I'd use them in jewelry for her as an excuse for collecting (a cover long-since blown).
So now, I have two obsessions. I've made about 20 sterling pieces, along with every mistake possible in silver. I came upon Addie Kidd's wonderful lessons in soldering on YouTube, and subscribed to the mag, in gratitude for teaching me so much in this darned difficult art of metalsmithing.
Needless to say, I've got a loooooonnnnnnngggg way to go, and will have many questions, which are hopefully not too boring or foolish.
And Addie Kidd, thank you again. You are a fantastic instructor.
