Hey Everyone,

I live in San Diego, California (Escondido to be exact) and teach wire jewelry workshops and attend art and craft shows on the West Coast.

I'm trying to re-establish the Wire Art Association that I founded back in 1998. We have discontinued the meetings for the last 2 years due to many circumstances and now it's time to get things going again.

Our monthly meetings are centered around design and also techniques instead of just projects.

I want to expand the meetings beyond San Diego, CA so let me know if you live on the West Coast and have at least 3-5 years experience in creating wire jewelry.

The one requirement of every member is that they at least take a 2 Day Intensive Workshop from one of our instructors. This is due to the level at which we teach. Beginners have felt "left behind" when they try to keep up with the others as we work on new designs and concepts.

Please contact me if you have any interest in hosting a Wire Art Association meeting each month.

It's a GREAT way to meet other wire artist and also excel your skills.

I'm about to embark on a short week in Greece (vacation) followed by several days in Japan (day job) and am wondering if there are local specialties I should consider stocking up on. Sparklebee already mentioned ceramic beads from Corfu... I'll be mostly in the Peloponnese and mainlaind Greece, then in Japan on Hokkaido in Sapporo.

jewelry or craft store worth mention? Ilive in midtown, althoug I'll travel a reasonable distance. I also visit central and northern NJ (Princeton area; Morris & Passaic Counties) regularly.

Time spent rummaging through antique/vintange ANYTHING gives me a zen-like feeling of tranquillity, and I find that some of my most wonderful inspiration comes out of excursions to humble antique stores, so please include any if possible!

I'm definetly still a novice, finally ready to begin taking classes here in NYC. Does anyone hawhy do uve a school, studio, or accomplished artist they can refer me to for quality education in any/all areas of jewelry making? Why do they stand out to you? I understand that time is money (especially here!), and prefer to invest in a very focused, serious environment where attention to detail is key.

I'm beginning a new chapter in my life here, bursting with nervous excitement as intense as I would be at the end of an intense date--- like- where to now?!

In small words that a person with a business disability (I was trained as a scientist) can understand?

I gather if I want to sell more often than very occasionally, I need a seller's permit. I gather this entitles me to buy wholesale and obligates me to pay the state sales tax. So far, so good. In order to get this permit I apparently need to show a business license, which means I need to register as a business. This is where I get confused, because at this point in time, I'm definitely doing it as a hobby and it would take a miracle for me to show a profit. If I register as a business will the state and the federal govenmetn expect me to pay income taxes as a business? Will they expect me, then, to demonstrate intent to make a profit? If so, is there someway I can legally pick up some cash to fuel my serious hobby without being required to be profitable or demonstrate I am operating in a "businesslike" manner? I'd just as soon do this as hobby income and hobby expenses for now, I do have a full time day job.

Any Tools Strong Enough For Stainless Steel?

Hey Everyone,

I have a problem with breaking my good tools. I'm now creating a tri-metal design with 316L stainless steel, sterling silver and gold.

The problem I'm having is closing the loops and forming the wire.

Any suggestions on tools strong enough for stainless steel but also able to do detailed work.
