    Bronze Clay

I finally got around to firing my pieces. Front Side Back Side, piece with the CZ is missing because the CZ fell out - shrinkage caused this. Close up Swirls piece. These are our first bronze pieces, but if you have questions, we will try to answer them. Have a good weekend. Jenny & Skip

Looks like you are having a lot of fun with this neat, new stuff!  These came out very nice - look antique.  Hope that's what you were going for!

    Re: Bronze Clay

They are very rough and ancient looking. I did tumble two of the pieces, for several hours. It diffently takes longer to shine these up than it does for PMC or ACS. I only tumble those for about 15 to 20 minutes to get an awesome high shine. The Bronze tumbled for about 4 hours total and still just came out shiny, not a high smooth shine, just shinier than what you see above. My husband made a skull bead for my son out of these an dhe loves it, very manly looking. He also tried to bong it with sterling on a ring band and that failed. The two melted together even though the kiln did not get hot enough to melt sterling. It must have gotten hotter in the special firing pot and coal. Lessons learned and I hope this may help you figure this first generation clay out. I will keep working at it, I got 200 grams of it. It does dry out faster and is harder to rehydrate. But that has only bugged my husband and son. I did not mind the issues. I also found that when it is leather hard, it is very carvable. I just used some dental tools and carverd out line and engraved my initials in the back, easier than the PMC, in my opinion. Thanks for your feedback ladies. Noone has really committed on my pieces when I have worn them. They did not turn my skin color so I am going to put them in the shop I sell in and my craft shows to see how they do.
