As I think I have mentioned before, I am a custom picture framer by trade. I also belong to an organization of framers called the PPFA (Professional Picture Framers Association). Every year, the organization holds framing competitons, both print and open. In the print competitions, everyone gets the same item, whether it's an art print or some obejct, and then puts their own spin on framing it. In the open competition, the participants get to choose what they wish to frame.
This year, I intend to enter my first open competition, and what I chose to do is something I am making myself. Since I always like to challenge myself, and have been having a blast with Eugenia's faux cloissone technique, I decided to do something really over the top. Now, I still have a LOT more to do, but I couldn't resist sharing:

She's about 6"x8". I still have some of her hair to add, and she's smoking a cigarette, so I have to add the smoke as well. There is also a very elaborate border that goes around her, and that should take me some time. You'll notice on the right some distoration to the clay. That's from where I had to splice on some clay to get it back out to the size I need. I am hoping that when I get the final details and all and press everything out, that will disappear. Though, now that I look at it again, there's a good change most of the ugly part of that will be removed in the final piece.
Anyway, like I said, just had to share. I will definitely post a pic of the final, and of course, how she gets framed. Thanks for peeking!
