    Orcadian Jeweler

We went to the Orkney Isles of Scotland for our honeymoon - and what a treasure trove of artisans we found! Orkney's history is rich with the tradition of silver- and gold-smithing since ancient times, and it looks like the contemporary Orcadians are really keeping up the tradition!

My personal favorite is Sheila Fleet, I just think she does a wonderful job of translating her inspirations into jewelry, and her work with enamel is breathtaking! I own these earrings and this pendant. I love that she explains where the designs come from (see the main collection page for each). I'm a little in love with Pictish and Viking history, so maybe I'm a bit biased!

I can understand why you love her designs. She has some beautiful stuff.

Yes, I love those earrings too. Being from Sweden, homeland of vikings, and with a master degree in archaeology ýou could think I should be able to read what the runes says....But, nope....
Have to dig out them books again.

I actually live in a part of Sweden with an amazing amount of stones with runic scriptures from around 500AC. I would love to own that pair of earrings!!! I love runes

I couldn't get the picture big enough, but the first few runes are Othala, Raido, Kenaz, Nauthiz, Isa or it could be Ehwaz (I'm guessing a bit here, since the detail was kind of blurry).  But that would spell (more or less) Orkney.  The rest I couldn't see clearly enough.  Although honestly, it looked there was a mix of at least a couple of different futharks in there...some of those runes look more like gothenburg than elder futhark or even anglo-saxon or any of the others I have a little familiarity with.

The runic enamel earrings ARE lovely.  I'm also rather partial to the Ogham piece.  Although I can't read that one as easily.  :)

I like its structure and the color lines are astonishing.
