    Cross Pein Hammer

In an article by John Sartin he mentions that he uses a cross pein hammer.  I've google Cross Pein Hammer and I have found references to it but can't find where to buy one.  Is there another common name for this hammer?

A cross pein hammer has a narrow, angled face, kind of like a flat screw driver.

Depending on the texture/shaping you were looking for, you could use a goldsmith's hammer, a riveting hammer, a small raising hammer, or even a planishing hammer to achieve a similar result.

The links above will take you to Otto Frei, and Contenti, two of my favorite online places to buy tools. Hope that's helpful, and good luck with your project!

I have two goldsmith's hammers and a small riveting hammer that work well for the type of texture he is doing, any of the three will work well for the project. I like one of my goldsmith hammer better than the others and it gets used the most, it is an old and comfortable friend to my hand. Rio Grande is another source for hammers.
