The ads are driving me crazy!
Who oh why do we have to constantly subjected to the same annoying ads all the time?!?!? The flash stuff drives me nuts. And the worst is when I resize a picture to see the full image, THE ADS COVER PART OF THE PICTURE! If we wants tons of ads, we can look at the magazine. The Old Forum was mercifully free of junk.

Re: The ads are driving me crazy!
I know how you feel. But, if you think like a company or corporation, ads are like gold. And when you find gold you dig deeper or pan faster. So I wouldn't expect to see less advertising. You have to think of them as free information (gold or gems) that you have the choice of digging for or not. Sometimes progess pisses me of too. But, I know I have to adapt or get over it.
I wish the internet had remained in its nice little sandbox of free information for the world. But, everybody found gold here, so start digging...

I understand why the ads are there. I just don't understand why they have to flash and cover material we are looking at. Just put them back in their little ad space and I won't complain!

Re: The ads are driving me crazy!
It seems that no one of the Powers That Be HAVE PAID ANY ATTENTION TO THIS BUG! Not only do the ads flash, irritating the heck out of me, but they very often cover a picture when I enlarge a posted picture to see detail. I HATE that! There's no reason why it should happen, except the PTB are much more interested in keeping the advertisors happy than Forum users. It seems that we are very low on the totem pole here at AJ, with the noted exception of Katie Streeter, who DOES CARE! As far as I can tell, B & B and Beadstyle don't even have a totem pole!

Re: The ads are driving me crazy!
Have you disabled popups? I have and don't find any of that annoying flash.
I am so annoyed by that kind of stuff that I won't even buy from the ADVERTISER, and I write them and tell them why. Maybe if enough people wrote to the advertisers, some of this stuff would be minimized.

Hi, Jackie.
I'm going to forward your question on to our Web department, but in the meantime, you might want to try out Trysch's suggestion about disabling popups. I don't believe that any of the ads on our site are popups, but disabling them can't hurt. I've never experienced the problem, so I don't have any advice to offer.
The Web dept. will probably want to know what browser you're using, as well as the specific version. Please let me know. You can e-mail me directly (kstreeter@artjewelrymag.com).
Thanks!

Re: The ads are driving me crazy!
I'm using Firefox Version 2.0.0.11. (That's what it says!) I hate the flashing ads. But it doesn't have anything to do with pop-ups, which I've disabled. When I enlarge a pic posted on a message, and the frame expands, selected ads on the right do not get covered by the expanded pic, but get covered in turn. The wider the pic, the more that is covered (of course.) Thank you for the replies, Katie. You arfe a role model for editors!

I must be lucky -- there are no ads to the right and I'm also using 2.0.0.11.
