    Help needed, wedding gift...

Ok. I don´t take custom orders, but a friend of mine asked really nicely. So I need your help.

Her brother is getting married. And she wants me to make 2 pieces (one for the bride and the other one for her brother) that will fit together to one piece but still can be worn as separate pieces (not showing that it´s only a half).

And I´m just totally blank! I´m thinking of making something in PMC. But I also work with Polymer Clay, lampwork and do beading. So I´m really open for suggestions.

The couple ware simple things and both of them work as jurists. Thats all I know. My friend said she had no problem with me mixing the materials (since I work with different things), but I just don´t know what to do. If I don´t get any ideas I´ll have to turn her down, but I really want to give it a try first. Any ideas?

Also, I could not find an appropriate place to post this...

Hi, I saw a TV show, not sure if it was Carol Duvall or another. The guest created a longer necklace that was 24 inches long. At the 16" mark was a "O" ring. Hooked to it was a decorative Lobster Claw clasp. On the 8" end with another "O" and at the end of the 16" was a Lobster Claw clasp.

Everything hooked together, yet could be worn separately...as a choker necklace and a bracelet.

It was very pretty and clever also.

Perhaps a circle within a circle concept. The first piece could be a circle medallion the size of a dime and the second piece could be a circle band that's just large enough to encompass the medallion. You could make the bails such that the medallion's is a square wire with a hole drilled through the top for the chain and the second piece encircles the medallion except for where the bail is for the medallion. There could be a slot for the medallion bail. They would both look nice alone, but could fit together nicely.

What a neat design challenge!  I think SilverSmith92 is on the right track.  Start with a "guy thing" that can be worn as a pendant by the guy, and also have it be attachable to the piece you make for the girl.   Going off the circle idea, what if the guy part was a dangle that would be suspended in the circle, and then removed and worn on a cord.  Then the circle could stand on it's own, or there could be another dangle that could be worn in it interchangebly.

Ok, sounds great, but I´m not sure of what you mean, I´ll be drawing on this first :)

Well, I´ll have to get back to you with the result, I´m also thinking of gears...

I planed on doing the same for my weddigng rings if ever i got married. Unfortunately I have not designed them yet and cnnot help with the design. I also do none of the techniques you mentioned. I do metalsmith with the little experience I do have.
