    Reticulation & Anticlastic Cuff

I just love the cuff in the Jan. 08 issue.  I do have a question though, what suppliers sell sinusoidal stakes?

The stakes are not easy to find, I went to Tucson last year just knowing I would be able to pick up one or two and I didn't see any!  otto frei has them on their site but they always seem to be out of stock, I heard that Allcraft in New York has them, but their site is...well, google it and you'll see it - it's lacking.  I ended up buying one from a company in Colorado and I just can't think of the name right now - go search the Orchid archives (ganoksin.com), I found the Colorado company from an Orchid post.  If you're up to it, you can make a stake from nylon or delrin - get Metal Technics ( relatively cheap book), there is a template than you can use to make your own stake.  Plus, the book is fantastic if you really like working with metal.

oh, you need a hammer to use with the stake - plastic, nylon or delrin that is wedge (not sure that's the right name) shaped.  I bought mine from the same place I bought my stake.  Hope that helps.

Thanks for replying and the info Loopy.  I'll do some more research on google and on the orchid forum to see if I can find the company that you're talking about. Thanks again.

Oto Frei does seem to be constantly sold out. Perhaps that's because they're one of the few who actually sell them? I get the feeling that this type of stake may be one that is better made custom to each person from tool steel, as it is for chasing tools.

Walsh caries them...but they're in the UK:

You might actually be best off finding a custom steel fabrication shop and asking them to make one for you, or even a set of them.

    Isn't that beautiful....(wispy sigh)....

I tried to make my own stake ala Jack...if I knew how to work the digital camera I'm post of pic of my sad 'stake'.  My biggest problem was finding the right tool to cut the channel - a rasp bit (is that right?).
