I would love to enter the contest, I always think you've got nothing to lose.. but I've never bought a thing from them! so I guess I cant enter! Good luck to you though, 1000 worth of supplies is a lot!

I entered, several years ago (I think that was 2004). It was the first time they offered that contest. They notified me that I was a finalist and that my design would be featured either in the upcoming annual catalog. I got the catalog that August, and went through it page by page. Guess what? No design pic for me. I called them...they apologized and put up a (very crappy) scan of my design on their web page for a while. I figured future attempts weren't worth the trouble. I don't really buy much from them anymore, so it's kind of a moot issue now. FWIW

well congrats, sort of... I think they are probably more organized than that now. I only buy certain types of things from them and refuse to place a special order to enter a contest! I'm going to go for it anyway. I've got 2 pieces ready and one more on the drawing board.

I entered 2 pieces in their contest in 2006. One won the first place in PC category, another was a finalist in Necklaces. I received a gift certificate for winning the first place and was asked to send both of my pieces in to be photographed. One of them (the finalist) was later featured in one of FMG catalogs; the other picture I have not seen anywhere, but may be I just missed it. I was not able to participate last year, but I am in again this year, with just one piece.
Sparklebee, good luck! I think contests like this are a lot of fun.

wow, Eugena that is so great! sounds like they have changed their categories. don't know, but it certainly is challenging using only items from FMG, and also only stuff already on hand.

I mailed my three entries yesterday, so glad to have this off my plate. Will let you know what happens at the end of May. It was fun entering and I came up with some artsy stuff that I would not have done otherwise.

Hi Sparklebee, Good luck, I hope you win!! Can we get a sneak preview? Can we, ha, can we??!!
I entered a necklace in the 2007 contest and won Silver Prize for the Art Clay Category. You should use a majority of their items, but I think you do not have to use all FMG stuff. They are supposed to put it on the website, in their house ads, and give me a $75 gift certificate. I received the gift certificate which was a ball to spend -- I bought fun stuff verses stuff I needed. They have not updated their website yet or run any ads, but they did take photos. I've only begun to start entering stuff. I usually make something and then weenie out at the last minute. I guess the key is not to take yourself too seriously and have fun. Happy Creating, Holly

Holly, that's a gorgeous piece! Do the pearls float freely on the wires? It's sure to be a winner! Alice

Thanks so much! Yes, Alice the pearls do float, they represent the seeds, that fall out to start a new life cycle after the pods dry up. They also represent the seeds falling out every time I picked up the pods as I sculpted - what a klutz. A darn, Sparklebee, I guess we will have to wait to see your piece in the ads -hee hee ~ Holly Celebrating the Beauty of Life and Nature with a Gentle Blend of Art and Soul.

YAY!!!! They selected two of my three entries to be finalists! I'm thrilled. Now I need to send them the jewelry. They will pick a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for each category. I am in the glass category which I'm sure is one of the largest ones. Thanks for all your support!
