Thanks! That little post cost me about $100 <G>! I was just thinking that I needed more micas for my classes, and those enamels looked toooooo tempting. $5 shipping is great.

Tangentially, do you have any idea when Michael's should have its $1 clay sale again?

Jill and I experimented with the faux enamels on Friday and had so much fun. They are awesome! I went back and ordered more. Here are the pieces we made. I'll be covering them with resin and then they will look even better.

Sparklebee, I love the top picture!  Covered in resin will be an incredible finish.  What cool colors and each one has a dramatically different look.  Very nice!

Wow, I really like the look of the top two pieces...the contrast with the black makes them very dramatic!

I bought some of the powders too after reading posts here and on PCC, but I haven't broken them out to play with.  Are they easy to use?  I'm thinking I'll save them for our guild's retreat in Lake Tahoe this month, but I guess I should make sure I have directions, LOL!!

I love the red piece. How do you use the powders? Do you apply them on top of the polymer clay piece?

Re: great sale on powders - updated with photos

There are many different ways to use these but here is what I did. I made my bases out of polymer clay. The top 2 are topped with silver leaf, the heart has silver foil, and the earrings have copper foil. I textured the pieces and baked. I then applied the faux enamels. They come in powder form in either transparent or pearlized. These all use transparent, I have not tried the opaque shimmer ones yet. You can either add water to make a wet sand consistency and pack into a cell (which I did not do) or just water it down and paint it on (this is what I did). If you put the powders on dry they immediately blow away with the embossing gun. The manufacturer told me the preferable way is to melt in the oven but I didn't try that yet. Based on the results of just these pieces I like the leaf better than the foil because of the crackling effect. The transparent ones don't even show up on black clay, so I think this is where the pearl ones are going to look awesome. I also plan to layer the two types. Before I can do any more experimenting I need to make more bezels - and it takes a while before I can get a batch ready. ps - I added some purple to the heart and it looks a little more interesting now. I plan to cover all these in clear resin which I think will make them look even better.

These are really intriguing, Lori!!! I really love the heart. It's so silver. What kind of foil did you use? It seems to go so smoothly over the edges. Very seamless. Is it like Jones Tones where you burnish it on raw clay?

    More!!!

thank you! the foil I use is Lisa Pavelka's. it's way better than Jones Tones, I'd really recommend it.
