Magdalena Borejko's Profile

About Magdalena Borejko

Magdalena's Atelier is a magic studio placed on a beautiful island in the Mediterranean Sea – Cyprus. It is my magical place, a place where I become one with my dreams and the music that plays in my soul. I find inspiration in nature, the wind, poetry and...everywhere! I was raised in Olsztyn – the greenest city in Poland situated near many lakes and forests. My childhood was like a fairy-tale. I grew up with wonderful parents, nature close at hand, and I was always surrounded by art, and I spent my time discovering new techniques: pastels, oil painting, sketching, sculpting and more. A few years ago I went to Cyprus to work for the summer and I ended up staying. But this is not uncommon because I am Polish, and the Polish people choose to emigrate whenever possible to escape the hardships caused by the many political conflicts that have besieged our country in past years. I found peace and calm on the island, and the love of my life – Jason. All I need now I have here. And, with my mind free from the rush and the chaos of living in a hectic civilization, I can now relax and spend my time dreaming of what my next jewellery projects might be. This freedom allows me the time necessary to carefully select the best gems and other precious materials from all around the world. If you see the phrase "Balinese bead" written in one of my listings, then that is exactly what IT is – a Balinese bead, or "handcrafted silver from Thailand", you can be assured that it is as stated, authentic. I search for gems that are rare and perfect in shape and colour. Sterling silver and gold-filled materials are my favorite settings for jewellery. Sometimes I like to oxidize the silver to give it a unique antique charm. There is no beginning or ending of time when I work on my jewellery. When I'm creating I don't realize how quick the hours pass. It could be only a few moments in the day because an idea unexpectedly pops up in my head, or literally weeks that pass by without a thought other than for collecting the right materials for a special design. And then there are the long hours spent coiling carefully, done without a worry as to the time. Ideas are bouncing around in my head all the time.Sometimes, I carry my ideas around in my head, and other times I sketch them on a sheet of paper. I'm happy to share the results of my work with you. And, I hope my jewellery calls up pleasant memories for you. And...brings a bright smile to your face. ~ Take a moment and visit my magic place. Huge influence on my designs had Eni Oken - great artisan and expert in wire-wrapping technique. Thank you Eni for your proffesional support. Jewellery Designing is my full part job, no just a hobby.I live, breathe and dream it.
