Linear Mosaic Alternate Stack with Green Veneer, Brilliant Series

Martha Collins uses a process of lamination, slicing, re-lamination, and turning to create bracelets, using 12 to 14 species of wood in each bangle. Linear Mosaic Alternate Stack with Green Veneer, Brilliant Series is made of 250 pieces of wood. The brightly colored lines achieved with hand-dyed veneers contrast the ebony edges of the bracelet. The bangle’s diameter is 68 mm (2 11⁄16 in.). Photo by Steve Meltzer. This piece appeared in the November 2008 issue of Art Jewelry.
