Flower Beetle Pin

“My metalwork draws from a broad palette of techniques, including reticulation, granulation, forming with hammers and the hydraulic press, foldforming, carving the metal with files, chasing, piercing, and fabricating,” says Amy Roper Lyons. She was inspired to create Flower Beetle Pin by the beetles in her garden. The cloisonné enamel pin is fabricated and forged of 18k, 22k, and 24k gold and enamel. Drusy pyrite and dichroic glass are bezel-set in the 1¾ x 1 3⁄16 x 5⁄16-in. (44 x 21 x 8 mm) pin. Photo by Ralph Gabriner. This piece appeared in the November 2008 issue of Art Jewelry.
