“My anvil came up the Missouri River on the steamboat ‘Josephine’ by my great grandfather and was on the farm until I received it a few years ago as a wedding present. Baby Girl Pendant

Diane Weimer’s Baby Girl Pendant was inspired by a vintage picture she bought at a flea market. “It looked so much like my mom at that age that I had to have it,” she says. The pierced sterling frame is three layers of the same design rotated and riveted. 2 x 2 x 1⁄4 in. (51 x 51 x 6.5 mm). This piece appeared in the May 2009 issue of Art Jewelry.

Oregon College of Art and Craft student Carol Salisbury created Unity of sterling silver and brass. She made the pendant to connect her to her three grandchildren. Four interior acrylic vials hold hair from each grandchild and herself. Salisbury painted miniature portraits of each of them from the back looking toward the center of the piece to adorn the outside of the 5 x 2 x 2-in. (12.7 x 5.1 x 5.1 cm) pendant. Dave Warnock fabricated his pendant of 14k white gold and 18k and 22k yellow gold. He bead-set 52 blue diamonds, bezel-set three white diamonds (one is visible only to the wearer), and prong-set two white diamonds to complete the approximately 2 1⁄4-in. (57 mm) long pendant.
