I was stuck after the two halves in the second shot, and it took me a while to work out what I wanted for the center, as well as how to achieve it.

The finished bead is 2.25in. by 1.0 in. - a larger focal. She wants me to 'cook' it -that means an LOS treatment, LOL. I think that is a good idea - more detail and drama in the piece. The photos are quick 'n dirty, plus I was trying out a weird grainy texture, almost newsprinty. I'll stick to the basics next time....

So anyway - any thoughts or questions?

Perri

Good Morning Starshine Ring

This ring is a slight variation on my Goodnight Moon ring, which belongs to my daughter-in-law. Many folks have asked for how to make something like this - now we'll be able to learn together! I've been busy developing classes for my time at Grand River Beads in Ohio the first week of October -this will be one of them.

Sterling silver coiled and woven into the band - a sapphire blue CZ encased in wire and pearls. Sorry, I've been fighting with my computer and this site....don't know what is up with that!

Anywho - these are made completely with sterling - I make very long, very fine coils and cut them to size, crimping the ends in place. I usually do this with a drill so that I can concentrate on the design work that is needful. There is also the added benefit that annealing is not necessary, at least for this design. In fact, the work hardening that takes place helps to secure the work, since hammering on these kinds of pieces is not an option. I'm not sure how much time Blue Heaven took, maybe 3 1/2 hours?

Thanks so much for noticing that the stone was strong enough for the setting - some colors I've tried get lost in the work - it really is all about how you marry the metal with the stones. I'm caught up in my tutorial schedule now, so I can start work on these two. It is going to be fun!!!!!

My Blue Heaven and Citrine Cathedral Rings (WITH PICS!!!!)

I've been in a ring kind of mood lately. Sometimes life moves us to other places for a while, and eventually we return to familiar haunts and halls. I've been busy making tutorials and travelling. I hope it is worthy of a return to the fold :^))

Thanks for looking,

Perri

Re: Shiva's Gift - Shaktipaj

Thanks again for taking the time to look at my work, everyone!
Thanks, Sue. But it really isn't any more work than you do on your pieces - turning all those loops and forging and whatnot! I think we just all have our areas where we are willing to forget the effort and concentrate on the object and the pleasure of the process.

I don't ordinarily make rings, but this really begged for this treatment. I truly enjoy how it turned out, and the patina shows off the band to perfection. The title stems from the children's book of the same name, a favorite of my granddaughter's, whose eyes are the same lovely blue, and mischieviously glint in the same way as well. Please enjoy!
