I made a new ring, for a good friend of mine. Took me a long time to make it, as it was a real challenge for me, but I did it.

Tiny Hill Tribe beads surround each heart half, which is then filled in with 3mm Swarovski Crystal bicones, for a sparkling finish.

Reversible Woven Pendant

This one nearly did me in - I thought it was going to fall apart in my hands about half way thru, but I finally made it. It has a stone as a Genesis stone (don't know what it might really be) on one side and on the other three stones (a moss agate, black onyx and freshwater pearl)

The next challenge is a reversible pendant with a hidden bail at each end.

Thanks for looking,

Louise

Side 1 of the reversible pendant

Side 2 of the reversible pendant

Side view of the pendant

Re: exploring new stitches :)

Just when I think you have done everything possible, you come up with wonderful new ideas! Congratulations.

Louise

Re: Wire + Spool Knitter

Aloha-

I have been making spool knit chains for about a year now and I think that I have gotten pretty good. You can check out pictures here: http://desireederabbitt.myphotoalbum.com/albums.php I need to get pictures of the new stuff up, those are actually all old images and I have done a bit more experimenting since.

I first heard of spool knitting wire about 30 years ago, there was an article in Lapidary journal about it. I finally found a spool made for wire at SoftFlex they have ones with 3, 4, and 5 prongs. I found one that has six but is made for yarn, and is a pain to use. Wigjig university has reasonably good directions for using the spool, I like using a crochet hook to pull the bottom wire over the top, but they sell a heavy needle with the spool.

You can control the density of the chain by the number of times you go around the spool before you start actually weaving the chain. I generally go around twice with a 26 gauge wire before starting the chain.

I got one of those wyrknitter things, but I couldn't make it work. I finally gave up on it.

Mahalo

Goodnight Moon - a new ring

I found this really lovely moonstone and needed a showcase for it. I don't ordinarily make rings, but this really begged for this treatment. I truly enjoy how it turned out, and the patina shows off the band to perfection. The title stems from the children's book of the same name, a favorite of my granddaughter's, whose eyes are the same lovely blue, and mischieviously glint in the same way as well. Please enjoy!
