Hello,

Based on the previous posting I checked out Pasternak Findings and made a purchase. I just received my first order of rose gold wire from Pasternak and I am very unhappy with the quality. I purchased three gauges of dead soft gold-fill. One of the gauges is by far the worst wire I have ever had shipped to me. The condition of the wire is such that it looks like it has been used before or was recovered from the bottom of a bin. Even worse, there are dark and rough patches all over it making it look like either the quality of the gold or the processing of the is substandard. The condition of the other two gauges is better, but the quality of the gold or processing is suspect due to variation in the color of the gold in patches. I cannot use any of this wire in my jewelry due to its poor quality. I will be repackaging this for return shipment. I’m worried that I will lose out on shipping expenses as this company is in Israel. Pending the outcome of the return of the order I cannot recommend purchasing from this company.

Thank you both for your help. The new directions were perfect. It now works.....like a knife through butter. I should have asked sooner. Luckily, I was using copper but went through a few blades. Expensive!

Resurrecting this thread, I am a fairly new jewelry designer. Still learning different things such as working with wire, lost wax process, soldering and soon, sheet metal. From the beginning, without being told, I saved every scrap of cast off from my projects. I have small clear cases, pill bottles, even seed bead containers to save my scraps. They're all labeled Sterling Silver, Fine Silver, Copper, 14K Gold Filled, 18K Gold Filled, Argentium Silver and even Base Metals. Into the last, I toss silver and gold plated scraps, steel, etc. I've heard that all metals can be melted and re-used. I'm not at the point where I've got a crucible or kiln... yet, but seeing as I paid for the materials per ounce, I hate to think of throwing out mistakes that cost me money. I know eventually someone will be able to use the materials, even if it's not me. :)

My 2. Book Wirejewelry for Bridal would be Launching in end of July in Indonesia, so here some suggestion for the cover, the Cover has Flip on the side. Because my moto 'simple elegant' I am preffer the first One.

Thanks, Sue. But it really isn't any more work than you do on your pieces - turning all those loops and forging and whatnot! I think we just all have our areas where we are willing to forget the effort and concentrate on the object and the pleasure of the process.
