  • Re: Bronze clay firing concerns

Hi Mardel, Thank you for posting on this thread. I am quite new to metal clay in general so I can't say for sure if the pieces were just oxidized but to me they looked burned, they had a 1.5mm coating that had the consistency of carbon and that looked completely black, to "save" my pieces...

  • Re: Bronze clay firing concerns

Hi Isabelle, You can find some very interesting information on firing BRONZclay at www.cooltools.us. I've done a lot testing on this and have discovered that a different schedule for firing thick pieces was needed. I have posted several articles on working with, drying and firing the clay on our...

  • Bronze Clay

I finally got around to firing my pieces. Front Side Back Side, piece with the CZ is missing because the CZ fell out - shrinkage caused this. Close up Swirls piece. These are our first bronze pieces, but if you have questions, we will try to answer them. Have a good weekend. Jenny & Skip

  • Re: More on Bronze Clay

Well, I finally got off my duff and made something. Because I did not want to use my silver tools, I decided to make something from a mold. I created a sunburst design in paper clay, and then made a mold from it. Quite often, I will try something in paper clay first, since it is cheap and I don't...

  • Re: Exciting Bronze Clay!

Hello Armadillo, Yes, we try to stop by the forums as often as we can to check in, see what's being talked about, and offer our 2 cents. But questions won't always be answered directly by us in less than 24 hours, particularly when there are magazine deadlines swiftly approaching. We do try though...
  • BronzClay has arrived

The metal clay community has been buzzing about it for months, and now the new bronze metal clay — or, more accurately BronzClay — is available to the public. The new Rio Grande catalog hit my desk yesterday, and the clay was listed among their new products. We had the advantage of testing the clay early...

  • Re: Bronze clay

Bronze clay is available as of today to the general public according to the woman I placed my order with at Rio yesterday. Folks from the PMC Conference at Perdue were able to order at the conference. Bill Struve said that he plans on Copper clay being available next year (summer 2009)! As of today the...

  • Re: Bronze clay

Hi! I had dinner with Bill and his wife Lacey Ann the makers of the Bronze Clay at the Bead and Button show, they are a very nice down to earth couple. I think they are keeping a low profile since they get swarmed with questions. I'll tell you the pioneering of a new material is hard. Bill has tried...

  • Playing with the new Bronze Clay -- the story of BC the snail

Meet BC. He's a snail I made using the new Bronze Clay developed by Bill Struve (research chemist). Bill's also the thoughtful husband of LaceyAnn Struve, who first began working in metal clay in 2006. It was LaceyAnn's interest in metal clay that inspired Bill to develop another medium for...
