Normal 0 21 pH down is a chemical, those the pH value of e.g. water lowers. That is, you can make thereby water somewhat more acid. But for what one needs when soldering? Is it used as a pickle after soldering? If so, you can use instead of pH down an alum solution. 10% alum-salt + 90% water. Warm up...

Like Edmund said, for basic soldering you'll need a soldering surface (like a charcoal block), a torch, flux to keep the metal clean, tweezers &/or a soldering pick, and a pickle pot with copper tongs. If you don't already know what any of those are I wouldn't reccommend that you start...

You need an equipment for hard soldering. A torch, gas like butane or propane, perhaps oxigen, soldering agent, silver solder and an inflammable base are the basic tools/materials. A pair of soldering tweezers is very helpful. This all you get by a goldsmith supplier like Otto Frei in USA If you look...

Hi, I want to set up an area for soldering, but I need to know what tools you would consider the basics, or ones most needed? I have a table to work on, so no bench is needed. And what is the best place to get them? I don't want it to be too expensive, but I would like decent quality. I also am looking...

Yes the Little Torch will melt hard silver solder - I do it all the time with mine. Silver needs a temperature of just under 2000 F to melt. Hard solder needs just under 1400 F to melt. And according to the company's Web site , the Little Torch, using propane with oxygen, can create a 4800 F flame...

Are you using the wire lengthwise, as a decorative element? Or are you trying to solder the end of the wire perpendicularly to the sheet? Either way, keep in mind that greater surface area contact means a better solder joint. If it's lengthwise: Form the wire to shape, then anneal it just like Loopy...
