  • Bending half-round wire

Having a devil of a time making bracelets in what I think of (probably incorrectly or simplistically) as the "Navajo style". In it's simplest form, I'd describe it as 3 or more half-round wires, the outer wires bent in an arc at the top of the wrist to hold a bezel-set stone, with the...

  • Stamping Sterling Silver

How to stamp sterling silver? What tools should i get and what kind of store may carry them tools? I'm thinking of stamping my works with 925 mark so people would be less skeptical whether it's real sterling or not. I'm new at this, so please be gentle :) Thank you!

  • Channel Lock Pliers

I wanted something with a broad-ish flat platform for Egyptian Spirals. The teeth on the pliers are bighty so I wrapped both jaws in scads of masking tape. My prof commented that he did not think they would hold up well. Of the many hairbraned things he has watched me do, the channel locks are a success...

An exhibit of the work of the istructors will be held at the Parks Exhibition Center and I will be presenting 6 brooches for the show. I am in a panic mode preparing...

  • Re: looking for 18K rose gold soft wire

Both Hoover & Strong: http://www.hooverandstrong.com/category/Mill+Products/ and Hauser & Miller: http://www.hauserandmiller.com/ carry various gauges of 18k rose gold wire, though H&M calls it "pink gold." Best of luck with the commission! ~Addie~

  • Re: interlocking rings

When I've made these in the past, I used half-round wire, and sized each ring about 3 sizes up from what I wanted in the end. Make a mock-up of yours to be sure. Solder and shape them all on a mandrel into perfect circles. Then saw apart 2 rings along the seams, and open them carefully to avoid misshaping...
